Kelly Mulligan Uller, inactive CPA

​

Kelly Uller brings over twenty-five years of experience in accounting and finance from global Fortune 5 companies, global asset managers and hedge funds to start-up ventures.  Kelly provides financial leadership to her clients through her strategic thinking, continuous process improvements, thought leadership and strong controls background. Kelly's deep connections with industry experts helps connect teams to subject matter experts when it counts.

 

Currently, Kelly focuses her consulting work on a variety of topics and projects including third-party service provider selections for emerging managers, fund financing, transitioning and implementing fund administrators, compliance related projects and operational efficiency reviews. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

​Kelly served as CFO at Radian Capital ("Radian"), a billion dollar growth equity firm investing in technology and technology-enabled businesses. Kelly led Radian's finance and operations from a team of 8 to almost 30 employees, one fund to six fund entities, collaborated with tax experts on strategies and compliance and created and implemented policies and procedures as Radian prepared and successfully registered as an investment adviser with the SEC.

Kelly also served as CFO and CCO at ThornTree Capital ("ThornTree"), a half-billion dollar global long/short fund. Kelly led ThornTree's finance and operations team of 6 employees and five fund entities. Kelly's responsibilities included managing the firm's prime broker relationships and working closely with the firm's head trader to ensure operational efficiencies relating to the daily trade and cash management.

Kelly served as Vice President of Finance with Bain Capital’s multi-billion dollar hedge fund affiliate, Brookside Capital.  While at Brookside, Kelly was responsible for the accounting and finances for the Brookside funds, its investors and the management company.  Prior to her time at Brookside, Kelly held multiple leadership roles at PwC from auditing Fortune 5 companies and global asset managers and successfully led the early adoption of Sarbanes Oxley regulation.  She also spent time with PwC’s National Office consulting engagement teams on complex capital structures and provided thought leadership during the onset of the global financial crisis of 2008.  â€‹â€‹â€‹

Accomplishments:

  • Successfully implemented accounting software system creating a stronger control environment and produced reliable and timely reporting (Brookside Capital).

  • Successfully implemented CRM system and launched website creating value for both management and customers (Brookside Capital). 

  • Created efficiencies in accounting and reporting by reducing process time by approx. 50% through process overhaul and automation (Brookside Capital). 

  • Led the early adoption Sarbanes-Oxley implementation at Fortune 5 company (PwC).

  • Authored PwC Dataline (whitepaper guidance) on Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP).

    • Member of the PwC & other Big 4 Accounting Firms, SEC, U.S. Department of Treasury and the 9 largest American banks task force when TARP terms were created. 

  • Led the reverse audit of IPO and merger between investment bank & asset management client.

  • Authored and taught multiple learning and education courses for PwC and their clients.

  • Led minority & multicultural circles in multiple PwC offices which led to increased staff performance, staff retention and client engagement experiences.  

  • Co-founder of Wellesley Youth Field Hockey Club (formerly named Wellesley Scoops Field Hockey Club), a not-for-profit 501c-3 organization, that introduces and teaches the sport of field hockey to hundreds of youth players in the Metro-Boston area. WYFH has grown to be one of the largest youth field hockey programs in MA. Kelly is the president and current board member of Wellesley Youth Field Hockey. 

  • Co-led the successful split of Wellesley Youth Lacrosse into Wellesley Girls Lacrosse & Wellesley Boys Lacrosse programs. Wellesley Girls Lacrosse ("WGL") is a not-for-profit 501c-3 organization that introduces and teaches girls lacrosse to thousands of youth players in the Wellesley area. WGL has grown to be one of the largest girls lacrosse recreational programs in MA. Kelly is the current president and board member of Wellesley Girls Lacrosse. 

  • Kelly has led successful partnerships with both Babson College and Wellesley College. Both Wellesley Youth Field Hockey and Wellesley Girls Lacrosse proudly partners with and supports both schools in addition to the Wellesley High School programs.
